What counts as an "active user"?
Anyone who triages a failure, manages alerts, configures pipelines, or merges a draft PR. Read-only viewers (stakeholders just checking dashboards) are free on Team and Enterprise. You only pay for the people who actually take action in the tool.
Is the Free tier really free, forever?
Yes. No credit card, no time limit. 3 users, 25 active models, 100 AI calls per month, email alerts, 30-day retention. Perfect for learning, side projects, or evaluating before pulling your team in.
Why is there a minimum user count on paid tiers?
Pipelines triage works best when multiple people share visibility — engineers, on-call, and at least one tech lead. The minimums (3 on Starter, 5 on Team, 25 on Enterprise) reflect the team sizes where the tool delivers real value. Below that, the Free tier covers what you need.
What if I need more AI calls than my tier includes?
Notify you at 80% of your monthly cap. Overage is $0.10/call on Starter, $0.07/call on Team. If you're consistently over, talk to us — Enterprise pricing is often cheaper at high volume.
Why are some features Enterprise-only?
The Enterprise features (BI trust badges, draft PRs, Failure Memory loop, audit provenance) require deeper integration with your tooling, custom security review, and ongoing tuning to your org's specific patterns. They're worth doing right with white-glove onboarding rather than self-serve.
What counts as an "active" dbt model?
A model that ran at least once in the last 30 days. Pipelines you've stopped scheduling don't count toward your tier limit.
Do I need both dbt and Snowflake?
No, either works alone. But the most powerful features (silent failure detection, true cost attribution, cross-system lineage) require both — that's where dbt's intent and Snowflake's reality get reconciled.
Is there a free trial of Team or Enterprise?

How do you handle Snowflake compute costs?
Snowflake compute always passes through to your Snowflake bill — we never mark it up. Our optimizations (smart-split diffs, sample-based queries, Time Travel for storage) keep typical cost under $0.30 per failure investigation.
Can I bring my own AI provider?
BYO-LLM is included on Enterprise. We support Anthropic direct, OpenAI direct, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex, Azure OpenAI, and most internal LLM gateways.
